Art Exhibit: Energy and Flow

Hooshang Khorsani is an internationally exhibited artist with working studios in Ruston, LA, and Orange County, CA. His work reflects a bold contemporary style, with hues alternating between muted and highly energized. The paintings are rendered in acrylic and mixed media, and range from brushwork to washes to work with a palette knife. He paints on canvas, paper and board.

Two of Hooshang’s favorite subjects are part of the exhibition; Flowers and Horses.

Flowers arranged in the artist’s studio offer him inspiration. His paintings capture how these richly colored blooms both complement and set off one another.

He then uses background blocks of color to add perspective. The artist tries to find the energy and inner life within his subjects without fully revealing them, seeking to unveil the mysteries and beauties of the universe.

His equine paintings are part of a study of running horses. All areas of these paintings are designed to make the horses gallop ahead, trying to escape from the canvas. Every single color shows moving energy; each color cooperates with the next to handle this performance of power.
He says this about his work: “I paint in layers, adding texture, but it’s as if the paint itself takes part in the creative process. I’m the tour guide on the journey, but there’s another participant: My hands are virtually channeled into a universal source of energy. And that energy, in turn, pulses through my brushes and artist tools.”
