“Father & Son – The Beast Within Us”

Paul and Dakota Noot’s focus in their show Father & Son – The Beast Within Us. depicts the relationship between landscape, animals and humans. Both use bright and expressive color to capture the connections and personalities of their subject matter. Paul’s painting is expressed in a more natural form focusing on North Dakota wildlife and landscape surrounding them. He uses segments of nature,
ornamental architecture, and the human body to evoke a visceral response. Dakota’s paintings focus on farm animals, pets and insects. He depicts an image of fantasy and science fiction, the idea of assigning human-like qualities to animals and animal-like qualities to humans.
Paul Noot received his Bachelors in Fine Arts from the University of North Dakota and went on to earn his Master’s in Fine Arts from Brooklyn College. Paul is currently the head of the Visual Arts department at Bismarck High School. Dakota Noot also received his Bachelors in Fine Arts from the University of North Dakota and his Master’s in Fine Arts from Claremont. Dakota grew up in North Dakota and currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
