WINTER Ice sculpture for the park
Collaborative Community Ice Block Sculpture.
The Hansen Arts Park.
February 3 – 12, 2017.

Join in the fun as we build a colorful ice sculpture in the Hansen Arts Park. We tried this last year, but the warm weather put a damper on the fun. This years is shaping up to be perfect for this creative winter activity!

Community members are invited to create their own ice block shapes and deliver them to the park during Jamestown’s annual Cabin Fever Days.

Anyone can contribute. Ice blocks can be any size, color and shape. The sculpture will grow and change throughout the week as more ice shapes are added. There is no right or wrong way to participate, just add as many pieces as you would like throughout the week and watch the sculpture grow.

Helpful hint: When assembling and stacking your blocks pour a dribble of fresh water over the bottom block, count to 10, then set the next block on top. The thin layer of fresh ice in between will help stabilize your structure.

Colored ice blocks are easy to make with various containers, food coloring and water. Mix the coloring of your choice, with water (a little color goes a long way) and set outside to freeze. After the water is frozen solid, pop your colored ice block out of the container. Then bring all your blocks to The Arts Center to add to the sculpture.
