Jon Wayne Concert & Book Signing

Jon Wayne Acoustic Concert
Sunday, November 26th
7:00 pm at The Arts Center

Jon Wayne is a Jamestown native and front man for the band Jon Wayne & the Pain. This concert will comprise of an acoustic set by Jon and a celebration of his hometown connections with his new biography, One More Trip: Jon Wayne’s Journey from Addiction to Redemption, with a Nov. 26 release party in Jamestown. Jon describes his music style as singer song-writer folk and reggae.

Jon and author Thom Wilder will sign copies of One More Trip – a harrowing tale of overcoming heroin and alcohol addiction while forging a successful music career – prior to Wayne’s Sunday Nov. 26 show at The Arts Center in Jamestown.

Just as Wayne’s music career is taking off in the summer of 2008, his life is falling apart. He’s homeless and begging on the streets of Minneapolis, addicted to heroin, cocaine, alcohol and a host of other drugs. He’ll overdose three times that summer before embarking on his seventh trip to rehab. As he begins his newfound sobriety, he knows getting clean has to stick this time because it’s no longer a choice of whether or not to get high; it’s a choice of life or death.

Growing up in bucolic Jamestown, Jon Wayne enters rehab in Fargo for the first time at 18 after a voracious dance with cocaine addiction. Ultimately, Jon Wayne’s story takes him to Minneapolis, where he makes music – forming reggae band Jon Wayne and the Pain in 2006 – and discovers heroin, the answer to the ever-present voice in his head.
Armed with a powerful Foreword by Jim Nowell, father of former Sublime singer/songwriter Bradley Nowell who died of a heroin overdose in 1996 at the age of 28, Chicago-based author Thom Wilder weaves the inspirational tale of Jon Wayne’s moment of truth in overcoming addiction, changing his life, correcting his mistakes and making amends. A chronicle of growing up on the North Dakota plains, One More Trip also serves as a sober warning of the dangers of drug abuse and a handbook for a life of recovery in a drug-prone work zone.

Tickets at the door: $15 / $10 for Arts Center members.
