Larry Woiwode, the poet laureate of North Dakota, will illustrate the difference between blank verse, free verse, and the variety of forms that poetry has taken over the centuries. He will not offer “Poetic License,” which means cutting corners or being indulgent, but will offer a professional poet’s advice on two poetic forms: a fairly easy one and another fairly complicated.
Mr. Woiwode’s first book of poetry, Even Tide, was published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux, and last year NDSU Press published a new chapbook, Land of Sunlit Ice. His poetry has appeared in The Atlantic, Harpers, The New Yorker, Transatlantic Review and other venues and is widely anthologized.
Lunch will be served. RSVP required by March 16. Call 701-251-2496
