The exhibition includes over 40 pieces of art spanning Piehl’s extensive career from his earlier beginnings to his most recent work.
Walter will be our special guest at the July 18 Downtown Arts Market and will be demonstrating his explosive painting methods.
This exhibition spans the entire career of North Dakota’s premier western artist Walter Piehl. In April 2018, the retrospective was organized by Minot State University to dedicate the opening of the new Walter Piehl Gallery of the Northwest Arts Center. Celebrating all things rodeo in explosive style and color Piehl shares his passion for the bucking horse, bull, gear, cowgirl and cowboy in his signature series; Sweethearts of the Rodeo Suite, Roping Fool Suite, Minotaur Suite and more. The Arts Center’s gallery manager Sally Jeppson, guest curated this exhibition for MSU and wanted to share it in The Arts Center’s Gallery.
At the same time, the exhibit Giddy-Up photographs, by Char-Marie Flood will be on display. This collection of photographs pays tribute to the cowboy culture that is still very much alive in North Dakota.
The Arts Center is open Monday – Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, or by special appointment. Admission to the gallery is always free and open to the public.
